New equipment for chemicals business in Turkey

Emine Çark, CEO of Turkey’s Ege PetroKimya, was working for a chemical company when she decided to launch her own chemicals business in 2011. Her first office was the back seat of her car.

With the help of Turkey and the EU, Emine obtained a loan for the business from IşBank under the EBRD’s Women in Business programme that enabled her to purchase new equipment – which is crucial when trying to keep the business efficient and competitive in capital-intensive sectors such as this.

The company has grown quickly and now produces chemicals in a 4,000m² factory and sells more than 63 different products to clients across the country.
